A little background to understand my situation. I have applied for skilled worker immigration since october 2006 through CIC singapore. I live in indonesia and I´m using abrams n krochak in canada as my immigration representative...
A few days ago (jan 2, 2010) I received an email from my lawyer asking me to send the full documents to them. After reading the email, I notice that the letter from CIC said that I have to complete and submit all documents within 60 days since the letter was sent. The letter was sent 27 november 2009. It means the deadline (60 days after nov 27 200c) is janury 24th, 2010, which is a sunday.
I can prepare all the documents required within 1 day except for w things: first of all is the ielts test, I´ve checked all the ielts test center and the earliest I can get is jan 9,2010. I can´t confirm if they still have space available since it´s still new year holiday here. Even if I got that date, the test result will be out after 13 days (around jan 22) and I won´t have enough time to mail it to CIC singapore since it´s a weekend. I have made a hand-written explanation for this (and proof of my english proficiency) and I will send it to CIC along with my other documents. My lawyer´s email wrote that this is acceptable. Can anybody confirm?
Secondly, the police clearance ceritificate takes time to be made. My lawyer stated that I have to send all documents to the lawyer in canada to be checked before all the documents are to be sent to CIC singapore. As of today (january 3rd) I only have 3 weeks left. From what I heard, the police certificate could take up to 4 days to be completed, it can be longer. By then, I would not have enough time to send the documents to my lawyer and from my lawyer to CIC singapore. FYI, I graduated from us university, so I do have proof that I´m able to communicate with english (I will send my university´s transcript together with the other documents)
I´m wondering if it´s possible for CIC to extend my deadline so that I can have more time to prepare all the required documents? If not, what should I do? I´m thinking of sending my documents straight to CIC (I will ask for my lawyer´s permission first). What´s the risk of sending it straight to CIC? I can´t contact my lawyer yet because it´s still weekend in canada. So I´m really confused of what should be done?
Sorry for such a long message... I´m really confused. I´ve been waiting for 3 years for this opportunity, I don´t want it to go away just like that...

If I were in your case, I would send whatever i could manage to collect, to the visa office. Just keep in mind the delay caused by your lawyer...already lost 1 month! Better than loosing another month, if you are in bond to them, take their permission and send the documents by yourself to avoid the delay again.
The lawyers probably just check your documents for completeness or fitness according to the claim for points. I guess as US graduate you have that capacity to do it yourself!
And for what you do not have in your hand, clarify the visa office and request for another one or two month. I think you will survive this situation without any problem.

if I was you, I will have done it by myself lawyers are to expensive and you dont have a control over your application, check the web site http://www.ez-canada-immigration.com for more guiding

Right now, I´m planning to send all the documents that I have straight to CIC singapore. I will write a hand-written letters regarding the missing documents.
As of right now, I´m missing 2 pieces of documents: police clerance certificate, IELTS test result. For the PCC, hopefully I will get it done by the end of the week. Since I´m not planning to send my documents to my lawyer, I have more time to finish the PCC and send it along with the other documents.
For IELTS score, I have scheduled for a test this weekend january 9th. The test result will come out 13 days after the test. I have made a request for a copy of the result to be sent to CIC straight. It will be over the deadline, but I don´t care about it being late. At least it shows that I do take the test. In the mean time, I will send a hand-written letter regarding IELTS test. I will also try to proof my langanguage proficiency by telling my history and how I´ve used english to complete my high school and university degree. And I´ve been living in singapore and united states (both countries use english as their first languages)
I guess that´s all I can do know, the rest is up to CIC and God hehe...
