Subject: Application Before Feb 27, 2008
  Dear All,

I filed skilled worker application on Jan 31, 2008 in canadian high commission pakistan and as per acknowledgement letter, office received application on Feb 01, 2008. Today i went through immigration website and according to their statistics 80% percent cases are finalized in 72 months. below is the weblink:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/02a-skilled-fed.asp#asia

Currently i am working in uae and according to new rule, application after Feb 26, 2008 takes maximum of 18 months. below is the source:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/01-all.asp

Now my concern is whether i should stick with application that i filed from pakistan or i should cancel it and open new from uae??

And can i open new case while keeping the old one ?

Waiting for your comments and suggestions and if you need further detail please let me know.

Thanks & Regards

Rameez

if you qualify under the new NOC rules, (make sure you do!) I would withdraw my application. Those files that are pre- 2008 are going to take forever.

Dear Sharon,

Thank you so much for your quick response.

Below is my detail:

Qualification: Master in Computer Sciences
Certifications: Cisco CCIE, CCVP, CCNP, CCDA, CCNA, FCNSA
Experience: 5+ years
Designation: Senior Network Engineer
Age: 28 year
Marital Status: Single
No arranged job
No relatives

According to my designation, i guess my NOC Code is "2281". Please tell me if i qualify under the new NOC rules? and as i am not in 38 Occupation List (i guess) so my application will take how long?

And as i asked earlier, can i open new file while still keeping the old one?

Waiting your kind reply

thanks

if you cannot find a way for your skills and job duties to fit into the current 38 skill list - then I am afraid you will need to leave your file under the old application system. Alternatively, find/get a job offer and come under the PNP program.

Canada is flooded with computer professionals and if you were to come to Canada, you will most likely end up with an IT position or technical customer service!, a position that might not fit with your ambitions. You might also spend a considerable time unemployed. Degrees outside North America or certain European countries are not recognized. As Sharon advised, try to get a job first. You have to think wisely.

If you are happy in the UAE, I advise you to stay there while trying to move. Think also in the US. You might have a brighter future there as a computer porfessional with such qualifications that Canadians do not respect or conisder as much as your race or country of origin!.

Good advice from previous posts. IT may be on the list but think long and hard before you make a move. Most of the IT people I know are freelancing and working part-time in other field, some at Call Centres, just struggling to get-by until they get their citizenship and back to their home country after. It is difficult even for local graduates as many big and mid-sized Canadian firms are outsourcing their IT work to developing nations like India.

Hi,

Thank you so much for your comments and suggestions.

I got some questions on input from second last message "Think also in the US. You might have a brighter future there as a computer porfessional with such qualifications that Canadians do not respect or conisder as much as your race or country of origin!. ". I thing getting in USA has become very hard for pakistani. On top of that i have no relative and no arranged job so do you think not having these and only based on my qualification and experience i can get US immigration etc. If there is some way, please share with me.

One option i think of is Australian Immigration, I would really appreciate if you guys could comments on this specially canada vs australia specifically in my case as IT professional and pakistani.

Your comments and suggestions are highly important for me.

Thanks
Rameez
