Subject: wanting to immigrate to canada
Hi, I am currently a student at Indiana State University along with my fiance. We are both working towards getting our teaching license: secondary English for myself and elementary education for Jake. We have a two year old daughter and hope to have another child later in life. We are interested in moving to Canada, yet I am having trouble deciding on where to move exactly. We would like to live in a smaller town close to a city with ample job opportunities and various activities for the family. A mountain view would be nice as well. Any advice that meets our desires would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Madison-Rachelle

Many of our teaching graduates moved to the States, Korea or Japan to teach because they can´t find full-time teaching positions in Vancouver. Doesn´t help that teachers are working past their retirement so there are fewer positions for new entrants.

you would need to check and make sure you credentials are recognized by the College of Teachers in the province where you would like to settle. You will likely need to take some additional courses to be lisenced.

Don´t immigrate to Canada, you´ll regret it, as many others have. Many previous immigrants have returned to their original countries, that´s facts. That´s why even though Canada receives about 250,000 immigrants every year, their population is almost stagnant.

This is a suggestion from a former immigrant, who is lucky enough to return to my original country.

Apron,
"DonŽt immigrate to Canada, youŽll regret it, as many others have." Could you tell me why?

250,000 per year is not so much. It takes 40 years to become 25% of overall population. Even smaller European countries have almost 100000 inflow every year. Of course Canadian would have been also moving out. In and out is common way.

May be if Canada has money they can start great research activities and technological advancement after they have enough manpower.

But one thing in sure is, mostly where there is the British shadow..there is visible racism. But I don´t know about Canada, only heard or read.

As for job opportunity, wage standard and hospitality, the US is far better. Most Canadians are not friendly, either in socialize or in jobs. My experience says that most immigrants do low-level jobs, especially during this crisis time. If you have family (children), even $10 per hour won`t be suffice. I`ve been there, done that. However, I strongly agree that racism is VERY visible in Canada. Seeing from your name, I suppose that you are Caucasian, so perhaps you won`t experience the racism too much :)
Good luck.

As for the population, Canadian`s population doesn`t seem to increase much from year to year despite the large number of immigration. That`s my point. FYI, Canada`s current population is around 33,972,000. Oh, they also claimed that they`re facing aging population and shortage of skilled-labour.

However, I`ve found out that what they`re facing mostly is shortage of Mc-Donalds & Tim Horton`s workers, fruit-pickers, and maids.
