Subject: Why is the Indian Consulate at Toronto so idiotic?
I totally agree with rana and its really sad when we are treated badly by our own consulate .People who get their work done in time or without paying any bribe must be very lucky and they should realize the pain of others who are not lucky as them and they are harassed by the staff of Indian consulate in Toronto.
There should be some organzation appointed by govt of Canada to deal with the problems of people who are harassed and ill treated by Indian consulate here. They can ask the consulate to give feed back and there should be provision for making complaint so that that org. can take action and help people in distress.
There should be some helpline for those who want to go in urgency and not getting any response from consulate in that cases helpline should enquire and help to solve the issues.
Its shameful the way they are treating people here in Canada and its tarnishing the image of India .Weshould set example by doing work in time instead of making excuses and harassing people.I am ready to join the group if anyone interested to bring this issue in media.

Maybe that is more widespread in India than it might appear... that could also be a reason why so many Indians are "escaping" from that country as soon as they get proper training. India is, like Haiti, a cursed country which could have accomplished a lot if they learned how to enforce law and order!

You think only in Toronto ?

I heard and read they are everywhere same.
About Toronto, someone had asked exactly the same question about a year before in this forum.

Your country is highly populated, its your bad luck that your officers are really uncontrolled or you need political interventions to solve your problems.

Just go to the media in your country, if they find it interesting, it will come to light. May be the consulates will become helpful to other people from India in future!

Its not the short term solution but the long one.

Thanks Oh and anonymous for your advice.I am thinking to follow your advice but I have a question if I will do it they might create more problems for me and can harrass me even more. What do you think? Can I do it by hiding my identity? Its useless to hope that this rotten political system in India will ever going to improve unless people are aware of their rights and knows the way to get it done.

i agree with u all. Just went there to renew my passport and this lady working there treat me really bad. That is not the way a person from the biggest democratic country should behave with a fellow Indian citizens. This is not the definition of democracy. They have to grow up. They should know how to behave and respect those who are entering to each and every Indian consulate or offices otherwise media is going to bring out these matters. Everybody who have been treated badly should speak up.

Canadian for nothing as per
The Indian Consulate is not idiotic (in reply to: Why is the Indian Consulate at Toronto so idiotic?)
There may be delays but people have got their tasks done at the Indian Consulate without any problem. I am sure if you approach the concerned officers directly, they will asssit you in solving it within all their means. I have approached them with my problem and they were really helpful. My experience was quite pleasant and am surprised at reading the idiotic remarks.

Monkeys I believe could do a better job....... (in reply to: Why is the Indian Consulate at Toronto so idiotic?)
I had lost my passport. I submitted the documents on Dec17th, 2010 and they said it would take 4-6 weeks to process them. So I wait and around Feb 1st,2011 I call the Consulate to know what´s going on. They ask me when I filed the application and I said Dec 17h. The dumbass on the other end replies it takes a month usually and I ask her am I the only one doing the math here? She hangs up the phone. I go to the embassy, wait there for 3 hours after which they tell me that I will get it by mail by Monday or Tuesday (Feb 7th or 8th)

Surprise surprise nothing in my mailbox. I mean ffs how incompetent can you get? Can anyone give any tips on it?
