(in reply to: Dear friends,
Does anyone knows how can I ...) I opened my account at HSBC before landing:

However, I didn´t like HSBC services when I arrived! It´s up to you.

(in reply to: Dear friends,
Does anyone knows how can I ...) Look for the one that has international offices, HSBC for sure and I think CIBC and Royal Bank too.
Anonymous: if you are dissatisfied with the major banks - change to a neighbourhood and community banks, for example credit unions. I banked with a local credit union for years, and am very pleased with the services provided. Credit unions charge a $1 membership fee but you save on many charges that you tend to get charge for if you are with a major bank.

other options... (in reply to: Dear friends,
Does anyone knows how can I ...) Other banks like Bank of Montreal and RBC also offer the possibility to open an account in Canada before landing but your account will only be activated when you visit the branch or bank in person after landing. This must be because they want to prevent money laundering.
