I read that I can bring anything personally belonging to me. Does this apply for my own personal car? Do I have to pay custom tariff duties for the car when it arrives in Vancouver via Ship containers?

You can bring your car with you. Onlything you have to pay is registration and in some cases convert your car to meet Canadian standards (e.g. Canadian Cars alway have lights on)
