I have lost my social insurance card and is about to move back to Canada. I don´t want to apply for a replacement before I regain my 2 years of residency out of the last 5. Do I need the SIN card when I apply for a job or my would supplying my number work?

Yes, you need your SIN when you apply for a job. However, If you know your SIN that would be enough.
You can apply for replacement any time without the need for completing 2 yrs.

When you apply for a SIN Card, you do not need to show residency - you only need to show that you are a PR. Go to Service Canada´s website and check it out.
