Subject: Please Advice on preparing to job requiremeCanada
  Hi,

I am applying to Canada PR in a months time. I have no idea so far as to what kind of jobs would be in demand there.

I have experience in IT (Product Lifecycle Management) and CAD packages. Are there jobs available in this field?

I am pondering over the idea of studying Unix administration as I have some knowledge previously. Is there job openings available for the same?

Or can anybody advice which area in IT is currently in demand over there, which can be studied in a brief time?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks a lot.

First check the NOC codes to make sure you are eligible for PR. Use your research skills to check out job sites (monster.ca is a big one, but there are plenty more)and to check company websites directly. Canada is a big country and you´ll have to search according to where you think you´ll relocate.

Expect a long wait before job offers come in after you receive PR. If you haven´t started the process yet, the job market is likely to change in the years that you are waiting. It is very difficult (though by no means impossible) to get a job in Canada without previous Canadian experience. They are quite unique in this way.

In the meantime, work on your English and study what interests you. Do a lot of research before you make the jump.

Thanks for the advice. I heard a certificate for engineers is required to get job in Canada. Is it possible to get jobs without having certificate for Engineers?

Is it possible that any MCSE, Java, Unix certifications will work in advantage?

Thanks a lot for reply.
