| Subject: Visitor Visa After Sponsorship for Parents. |

Hi,
I am a permanent resident. I sponsored my wife 2 yrs back, who is with me now.
I want to sponsor my parents. I know the sponsor may take more than 4 years to come through, given the current backlog.
Once I have applied for sponsorhip of my parents, is there anything that prevents me from calling just my mother 8 months from now on a visitor visa, for helping my wife with childbirth and providing her emotional support during that phase.
This is important for me becoz,I got to decide whether to put in a sponsorship application for my parents right now or wait after my childbirth.

No, there is nothing to prevent your mother to apply for a visitor´s visa while her application is in process.
Just make sure when she applies that she can demostrate that she has enough ties to her home country.
The CIC officer wants to make sure that your mom will return to her home country at the end of her visit.

That is precisely why I am planning to call just my mother, so that i can prove to the CIC officer that she intends to go back home, because her husband still resides there and they have been happily married for over 25 years.
All the same, if anyone on this forum differs from the above advice, please do let me know as I need to take all precaution before i apply.

Well from my own personal experience with a family friend whose parents have been in Canada on visitor visa twice, never overstayed, have an excellent international travel history, strong family ties back home were recently refused a visitor visa to Canada after the fact that now they were sponsored by her Canadian daughter.
So, you never know....

Yes, but atleast the encouraging part is that they did get visitor visa twice, plus the daughter must have sponosred both her parents, arousing some mild suspicion.
Anyway i will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

So i take it that there is nothing legal to stop me for applying for a visitor visa for my mother after I have put in both my parents sponsorship application.

Yes, they did get visas but way before they were sponsored by her daughter not after being sponsored...
anyway, sure nothing legally stopping you to apply.. but the point is if she will begranted a visitor visa? for that, you have to apply and see...
