I will advise you to move as quickly as possible otherwise you´ll have to do medical of your new born child anew which will make you loose lots of time.

if there are no medical contraindications and the airline will allow you to fly to canada you should immeiately come to canada, less paperworks in the future

Depending on which province you are relocating to, there may be a 3 month wait until you are eligible for provincial health care. In that case, you are looking at several thousand dollars for the birth. Also, as anon mentioned, your wife may not be allowed to fly if she is too far along in her pregnancy. This is for her safety and the safety of her child.

If you decide to come to Canada ahead of the birth, you would be well advised to purchase private health insurance. Check out Blue Cross to see if you (and your WIFE) are eligible and what the costs will be, given that she is due quite soon.

I think you need to pay some premium for your provincial health care for the first few months (12 months?) regardless of kind of treatments you avail. Once you pay the premium as a PR I don´t think you need to pay any additional charges. Pls verify with the provincial health care plan (MSP in BC).

If I were you, I would take the next available flight to land as long as the airline permits travel.

I wouldn´t want the child to loose the "born citizen" opportunity.

I just checked the info for BC.
You need private insurance for the initial waiting period (remainig days in the month of arrival+2 months). So if you land in February, your coverage will begin on May 1st.
