Subject: Sponsoring parents - Unable to understand LICO.
  Hi,
I and my wife are both permanent residents living in canada. We are a family of just 2 members.
I want to sponsor my parents (father and mother).
I am quite unable to understand the LICO figures in the application form.
Could someone help me, determine what my LICO figures would be.
Also I am living in Ontario, NOT in Quebec.

Thanks
Sunny

what is there to understand? what is your income? Either it is enough or it is not to sponsor.

you have waited 10 hours for an answer on a forum where answers are free. be patient please.

Unable to understand the LICO (in reply to: Sponsoring parents - Unable to understand LICO.)

Sharon,

You have made a couple of mistakes
1. If there was nothing to understand, I would not have posted my issue. When you say "what is there to understand?", you sound highly presumptuous.

2. 10 hrs is sufficient time to get a response. It has nothing to do with the fact that this forum is free (99% of the forums are ...). On many occasions I have gotten a response in minutes or within a few hours. You yourself, posted a reply to the thread "Crime Stopper" by Mr.Singh, this particular thread was posted after mine.

As a matter of fact, your reaction surprises me, because at the time of my own immigration 3 years back, you were very nice to me and cleared many of my doubts. (which is why i know you by name). Maybe all the flaming going on these sites have gotten to you (which i myself do not support)
Anyway, no more on this issue from me.

Sunny

Hi all,

Coming to my real issue.
I saw this link which has the LICO information.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5196E10.asp

It says that the income of the sponsor is the sum of what is given in Table 1 and Table2.

- Table 1 is fine. I understand that.
- Table 2, I dont understand. How do i calculate the amount to sponsor 2 adults over 18.
It is a weird table, dont u think.

And again, what is Table 4, for. So which tables should i use?

Thanks for all the responses.

Sunny

I have read Roy´s answer. It is a copy paste of, what is given in Table 4 on this link
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5196E10.asp

I am keen to understand how to make information out of Table2 on the same link.
Table 1, I understand

Sponshorship amt I understand = Sum in Table1 + Sum in Table2.

Can anyone please elaborate on this.
Thx
Sunny

Hi Sunny,

The way I´m interpreting it is that you need to add Table 1 & Table 2.

So, as YOUR FAMILY has 2 members, to sponsor anyone, you first need to have C$27,787 (Table 1).

Now, who are you sponsoring? 2 people who are above 18. So from Table 2, you get the figure C$22,079.

So you will have to prove a sponsor´s income of C$49,866. C$27,787 is considered the amount you will need to support you & your wife. C$22,079 is the income required to support your 2 parents on top of that.

Hope this helps.

Also, small piece of (admittedly unsolicited) advice. No point in getting stroppy at a remark from Sharon & Roy that may seem curt. As you can see, there are innumerable queries raised here. Most of them get answered in a positive and succinct manner. Roy & Sharon do a brilliant job which has helped a large number of people immensely.

3 cheers for them !! :-)

LICO (in reply to: Sponsoring parents - Unable to understand LICO.)
Using the Sponsor Income Guide Form IM5196 I have calculated the minimum income required for me to sponsor my mother is: Table 1 $20,584; plus Table 2 $15,057; for a total minimum income requirement of $35,641.

What I don´t understand is - who is eligible to use Table 3 - LICO, instead of the Table 1 + 2 calculation?

Please do not cut and paste the page from the website as an answer.
