Subject: Maternity Leave
Once hubby is approved to move here (we hope!) we are planning on starting a family. Is maternity leave considered social assistance (ie in violation of sponsorship terms)? I know in Ontario they pay 60% of your wages for a year (which can be split between both parents) but I want to make sure it´s not going to cause us problems with immigration. Any help is appreciated...thanks!

It´s 55% actually... and no, it won´t cause problems. It falls under Employment Insurance, not social assistance. I´m on mat leave right now, and my hubby is a PR:).
