Subject: Visitor Extension Process
Hi I am just wondering what the process is for applying online for an extension as a visitor. I looked at the forms and they seem easy enough to fill out. But I´m wondering what happens afterward?will I have to be interviewed, or could they just accept my request. My stay runs out in 5 weeks.
I originally wanted to come to Canada for 6 months, but was only let in for 2 and a half months. Will that affect my chances?

Yes, you may be called in for an interview.
Can they "just" accept your request?. It depends on what is the reason of the extention and if you have the resources to support your self during that period.

You were allowed to stay for 2.5 months. What was the reason? CIC will take all the into consideration when making a decision.

i was only let in for 2 and a half months coz i didnt make a strong enough case as to why I wanted to be in Canada for 6 months...saying i wanted to travel wasnt enough...even though i had the necessary funds in my bank account. I was originaly only given one and a half months but she felt sorry for me, so gave me an extra one.

90% of the time your first request will be accepted. This doesn´t mean that you will be accepted or that you won´t get an officer that´s a jerk. I have never heard of anyone being interview but I´m sure it´s happened. You should apply ASAP though or you will have to pay another $125 to restore your status.

Hi Filangi,

check the website and apply for extension. I am not sure about interview or ever heard for interview. My mom is here on visitor and I have applied for extension and got it without any hurdles. I think you must be aware that you can stay in Canada (its legal) until you hear back from the immigration office about your visa extension. Right now its 52 Days behind the calendar, refer to the website below.

Best luck
