Subject: H & C & PRRA
Hi, I applied for PR under H & C in 2003. In 2006 my file was sent from London, Ontario to CBSA, Mississauga office. Since then there is no update info from them. In 2008, we were instructed by CBSA to call them every month from our home phone.

CPC Vegreville office returned our last two work permits renewal fees ($600). They renewed the work permits too without any fee. The letter came with the refund cheque states that we are authorized to remain in Canada under some condition and we don´t need to pay the fee for work permit renewal. There is nothing else mentioned on the letter.

I contacted the CIC London, Ontario office about this , they said they have no info about this and they transferred our file for PRRA.
We never filled any kind of PRRA application.

Please Roy, Sharon and other experts here, i need and advice or your experience in such situation.

Thanks and regards.

Well something happened but what?

As U know only convention refugee (claimants) do not have to pay for work permits. If you get a negative decision on your claim then you start paying as I assumed you did.

Stage One approved H&C or In-Land Spousal sponsorhip applicants pay for work permits.

So why are they returning the fee´s?

Now work permits are $150.00 each so are you applying for four work permits? R there 4 of you requiring work permits?

Try phrasing yuour questions better when you call e-cas.

Thanks Roy for the reply.
we applied for the refugee in 2001 and then case was withdrawn because because after we arrive a cab driver in GTA told us that he is immigration consultant and he will help us during the whole refugee process. But he added lots unrelated circumstances in our PIF. So when we realized all this it was too late and the only option we thought left was to withdraw the claim. which we did 4 days before the IRB hearing.

As far a work permit fee concerns: me and my husband paid $300 ($150.00 + $150.00) for 2009 and $300 for 2010 work permit renewal. We both received the refund for the 2009 & 2010 work permits renewal fee.

I called CIC toll free phone today and the lady said that file was transferred to CBSA because in our H & C application, we mentioned that we will face persecution if we go back to Iran.

Roy, I forgot to tell you that we applied the IFH and today me & my husband both received one year valid IFH papers.
We applied almost 6 times during the last 6 years, but all the times CIC said that we are not eligible.
We are totally confused about the status of our case at this stage. We contacted local CIC office and they said they don´t have any info, since the file is with CBSA.
We don´t wants to go CBSA Mississauga, because we have heard stories about them that if you bother them they will deport you.

Any advice please,

Regards,

Dimple

Dimple your close to the GTA I suggest go to 74 Victoria Street and see if they recorded (by accident) that you won your refugee claim.

If your near my office and I knew your client ID # I could call and talk to a real officer but your story is so illogical. It may be true because weird things do happen.

I need someone who has a few minutes will look at Foss and talk to me at the same time.

H & C PRRA (in reply to: H & C & PRRA)
Hello Roy,
My refugee claim was rejected back in 2006, I applied for H&C and since then I was calling every months once. Today, I got a letter from Greater Toronto Enforcement center stated that decision has been rendered with respect to my application. Yet they asked me to interview me. They did not state what the decision result is? Negative or Positive? Is that common? Also, I am terrified since I read it five minutes ago.
I am in Canada since July 2005. I studied some collage. I have great job pay me over 60K a year. I own a condo and over a year ago I married to my husband who is a Canadian citizen and waiting on my sponsorship case also. I have no criminal record. What they want from me in this case? What they will ask me in the interview? Shall I take a lawyer with me? Shall my husband come with me? Please Roy any help any idea.
Will they allow me to stay in Canada till my sponsorship case reviewed?
God Bless
Sanjie
