The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms seem to cover (EVERYONE IN CANADA) as long as your not on a work permit!

NOW CBSA IS GETTING YOUR PRIVATE BANKING INFORMATION!

http://www.torontosun.com/news/canada/2010/03/10/13184706.html

The new work permit application that came out has an additional dIsclosure clause at the bottom of the IMM 1249 above and beyond is all the information true. Either you agree to the Disclosure or you do NOT get a renewal of your work permit.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM1249E.PDF

So if you have filed a refugee claim and lost and your going through the process you need to work. Then CBSA can get what PRIVATE information you have because you want to work to feed your family.

So if your a student and apply for work a work permit after graduation CIC & CBSA can find out your Bank balance and if you claimed you had $1,237.99 to support yourself and your a millionaire who gets to control that information?

This George Bush thinking that everyone is bad and all need protecting so we the government can throw out the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is so wrong!

if people would not lie, they would not have to check.

Someone applies for a mortgage and my financial information is fair game. The government has access to banking information - how else can they sieze a bank balance for non payment of taxes.

If you want something - I guess you pay the price of turning over information.

I don´t really have a problem with it.

So Everyone in Canada should not be treated equally and we can throw the Charter of Rights and Freedoms out with the dish water?

Come on Sharon are we at war?

Maybe anyone that looks Japanese lock them up.
Maybe all Ukrainians because they look different lets lock them up.

On this one I can not support your stand.

actually, I think Canada is pretty respectful of citizens and guests. I also think there should be a difference in rights between the 2 and race has zero part in this.

Proving what you say to be true is only a problem if you are lying.

That has nothing to do with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

An honest hard working person has nothing to hide RIGHT?

So, what is the problem? how is that against somebody else´s dignity?

It is the same principle as when you are clearing customs and you have to answer some questions or/and an officer checks your personal items. Is that against the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms?

NO!

It is a regulation. Let me repeat this again... A REGULATION.

The problem is they can denied your work permit application or might delay, if you have some thousands in your bank. You mention in the work permit application that you wants to work to support yourself and your family. They will ask you to spend all your savings before getting the work permit.
