Subject: Getting Citizenship while working abroad
I got my canadian migrant visa, and willing to go along with family for landing until getting the PR,currently I have a job outside Canada,as I heard from friends,it is difficult to get a job in Canada in a short time, thus I´m intending to go for landing and get the PR for all family members, then i shall continue my career abroad to support my family in Canada, particularly with the high Canadian cost of living,I wonder if I will be entitled to apply for the Canadian citizenship after 3 years, although I´m working outside Canada to help out my family to survive in Canada?kindly advise.

No, you cannot apply for citizenship and if you stay more than 2 years out 5 out of Canada your PR can be revoked.

It´s better to consulate a good immigration firm. I think there are many factors affecting this issue.
Experts advices of this forum are welcomed.

advice is not required. There are rules and those rules are not up for discussion. see DocD´s answer for the rules.

Entitlement for Citizenship Application (in reply to: Getting Citizenship while working abroad)
I´m a new immigrant, who landed on 1/7/2010,with my family members (we all are 5),I spent most of my saving in order to settledown in Canada,I bought furniture, car, and home appliances,at least to let the family members be happy and comfortable in their new country.I´m a civil engineer with more than 20 years experience.I tried my level best for more than 4 months to find out a job to sustain, regrettably most of employers are asking for Canadian experience, which I do not have. However, I made up my mind to leave my family and work outside Canada, and managed to get a job, which enables me to support my family in Canada. My querry is if I stay in Canada without a job, then I will apply for a government welfare, which I do not do,but how about my entitlement to be a Canadian citizen while working abroad, and pls. take note that I´m willing to pay taxes in full compliance with the regulations?kindly advise.Am I entitled to apply for citizenship similar to my family members or what shall I do?and my PR will be expired if I continue working abroad more than 3 years? Thank you in anticipation
