Subject: Funds-proof again
  Hi all,
Thanks for the useful postings.

I sent my medicals, ROLF, relevant docs and assets and liabilities form in Oct 2004. They asked for a re-medical check, and I did that, all results negative. So fine with that. Now they are seeking proof for funds as shown in the assets and liabilities form.....and it is difficult to get bank statements for the same now. So I got all the records (history) printed/copied, obtained a recent statement, and enclosed copies of all pages from Oct 2004-Jan 2005 and sent to CHC, showing the funds as of now which is slightly higher than what I had with me in Oct 2004. Understandable.....so am wondering if any of you had similar experiences?? let me know your views please.

many thanks for your time.
EJ.

yes, we have. we have been asked 3 times for verification of funds. In our case the settlement funds represents 2 years wages in my fiance´s home country. he has been working 5 years at a reasonable job, so to save that kind of money is rather impressive. (in truth I put the money in his personal account or immigration would never happen for him). All they want to see is the money has not budged, and it is there at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of your application. they may also want to see some sort of verification at point of landing. They do not want you arriving in Canada with no money and they have seen too many times that applicants borrow the money for 10 days and return it, hoping nobody ever checks again. They do not have $1 to settle. Economic disaster.

Thank you sharon. If all they want is evidence that I have funds then it should be ok. If they want me go get this and that, it might be tedious...

Thanks and have been following your posts for sometime now. Aware of your story, incl reopening.

Sharon, in your post are you trying to imply that CIC still checks the pockets of the newly-arrived immigrants days after landing?

I would like to know if anyone landed in Canada after bluffing the CIC about funds and starved to death or even better, wrote a book on his ventures in survival/begging in Canada soon after arrival there. Is there any book on this topic? If people are cheating on the basic amount of money needed to settle, how on earth can they truly sustain themselves after arriving?

it does not happen every time but immigration may ask for proof of funds upon entry. No money... they put you on the plane back home. they will do it with a visitor, they will do it with a PR applicant.

I am sorry but I disagree (in reply to: Funds-proof again)
Once you have landed in Canada, there is no eay way back. This is the beauty of our wonderful land. Even if you are criminal.

Anohow, as far as money goes in many cases they want you to transfer the funds to Canada in advance. Many people were getting their relatives to do that for them and after the Bank statement issued they transfer the money back. Now, you can not do that either, as per new rules Bank will not transfer the money back until you are physically in Canada or your file has been refused.

If visa office is OK with your funds Overseas then you are OK, but if they want you to transfer the money then do it at the last moment. I mean after they said your visa is ready transfer the money and pick up your visa.

I hope I answer your question

Good Luck
