yep, I don´t think any banks will share your account information to CIC, since you have no written notice to release those information, CIC can only depend on what you submit

CIC can check with bank at any time as the letter that we get from the bank states "To whom it may concern". Banks are obliged to do that when a request comes from a foreign mission confirming validity of bank statement/letter. Its part of international banking law. I know because I worked in bank.

Stupid ppl. Canada already lists minimal amount of money required to settle there. Why does anyone even discuss about money matters?

American Refuse, we have to remember something...for many people Settlement Funds represents a huge amount of savings. In our case it represents 2 years wages - just for one person. To wait until you have saved enough and then apply could take forever. I can understand why people look for ways to get around it.

That said, it is critical that new applicants arrive with enough cash to get themselves established - hence CIC insists on settlement money. It is in the applicants best interest. Having to repay settlement money is a difficult position to be in for a new Canadian and I would encourage anyone considering it... to rethink the strategy- for your own sake.
