Subject: sponsoring my husband
HI, I WANT TO SPONSOR MY HUSBAND, I AM A CANADIAN AND CURRENTLY LIVING IN CANADA, MY HUSBAND IS OVERSEAS. WE HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR 4 YEARS. I FOUND A GREAT LAWYER BUT HE WANTS $6000.00. MY HUSBAND HAD SOME TROUBLE WITH IMMIGRATION WHEN HE WAS HERE BEFORE WE WERE MARRIED AND THE LAWYER SAID THAT BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN SO LONG, IT SHOULDN´T BE A PROBLEM. I CAN´T AFFORD THIS LAWYER BUT I´M AFRAID TO PAY SOMEONE LESS JUST TO HEAR THAT IT´S BEEN DENIED. IS THERE A WAY TO GET MY HUSBAND HERE WITHOUT PAYING ALL OF THIS MONEY? I´M GOING TO BE STARTING SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER WHICH WILL MEANS THAT I WILL HAVE EVEN LESS MONEY TO DEAL WITH. MOVING THERE IS NOT AN OPTION. I WILL MAKE WAY LESS MONEY THAN I AM HERE, IF IT´S EVEN POSSIBLE TO FIND A JOB. I´M GOING CRAZY TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT. IF ANYONE KNOWS ANYTHING, PLEASE HELP ME. I HAVEN´T EVEN BEEN ABLE TO AFFORD TO GO SEE HIM IN THE PAST TWO YEARS. THE ECONOMY REALLY HIT ME GOOD AND IT´S HORRIBLE NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE THE MAN THAT YOU LOVE FOR SO LONG. PLEASE HELP!!!

ALI do it yourself, im just asking maryam for advice since she´s already been through the "ringer". i looked over the forms and guidelines, the forms seem pretty cut and dry, im just not sure about the order of things. good luck

Is there a particular reason why you two have to type with the CAPS on? It is really annoying.

Anyway, you can do it yourself, there is nothing in the law that says you have to use a lawyer to fill the application. Make sure you are capable of following instructions and fill the forms properly otherwise things will get ugly.

Some people can some other people can´t.

Now, what it sounds fishy is the "he had some trouble with immigration in the past" depending what the problem was, it might be a big deal or not. Keep in mind that lawyers are not fully train to deal with immigration.
Watch for the so called "Immigration Lawyers", get references from previous customers in similar situations.

Eric, what exactly are you asking? You have to demostrate that your relationship is genuine. That´s it.
Informal pictures of casual events, phone bills etc.

Well my wife and I are not sure what to do first, as for proving marriage is genuine thats no prob, we have a baby together and of course informal pics...we cant figure out where to start. I just sent fingerprints off to FBI for my criminal check,and was planning on this;
1. get criminal check back
2. wife completes sponsor app
3. i do PR app
4. pay fees online and put receipts in with apps
5. package everything(pics,sponsor/PR apps, criminal check)in one big envelope and wait for response???? is this how to do it? thx, Eric

maryam, your information is WRONG. babies, multiple babies, or financial hardship does not prove a genuine relationship and most certainly does not get your visa any faster.

My husband needs a pardon from Canada before starting the sponsorship. I found a lawyer for $2000.00 instead of $6000.00 but I´m not sure if I trust either of them. What if I do the work myself and it´s a waste of time. What do I do then? Maryam can you give me your lawyer info please. I´m not in your area but I´m in Ontario and would like another opinion please. My husband was also living in the U.S. without papers and was deported from there. Very confusing case and I just don´t know where to start. Can anyone help me, please!!!

Ali,
i was thinking about the lawyer and confusion bit and thought about "legal aid" or "legal counsel" i dont know about canada but where im from in the states you can usually find this at the public library or they can point you in the right direction. If I were you I would go to the CIC website and d/l the "sponsorship guide" take a look at the forms too. They look pretty simple. Be careful with lawyers some are good and DO know what their talking about but most just want a fast buck...legal aid is free.Just a thought for ya.
SHARON/MARYAM i will def put that on my app(cant hurt) but as for sending EVERYTHING in one big "sha-bang" do you both agree? oh and at what point do they want me to take a physicle?
