Hello, hope everyone had a good Easter weekend. I was just wondering if any body knew how long it takes to receive a responce after subimitting a PRRA application. I just submitted one for my finance on Thursday and we still have till the 18th to submitt submissions. A lawyer here told us between 3-5 months but Ive heard somewhere else longer. Im sure it depends on the situation and the country right?
Any thoughts would be helpful. I hate playing this waiting game.

hi frustated,honestly saying there is no timeframe i hear it takes 2-3 i had friends who got the answer in 2 months but for my self it took over 3 years waiting i think it depends on the country shes from and the situation.. i will suggest you to submit the H&C application in the mean time because there is almost zero% chances she get accepted in the prra,if she could prove that she has enogh ties to canada you,kids, family she has more chances of getting accepted under H&C Grounds it will depend of a good lawyer too, i had someone who did my ap for the H&C and it was garbage they didnt put nothing important,i paid my lawyer $2000 to fix it and it was well worth it he literally wrote a book about my life in canada and my ties and everything i would go through if i was to leave canada and they accepted me thanks god cuz i didnt want to go back to my country im from costa rica and people from there have very little chances of staying..

Only new evidence will be considered since the time you were ordered removed or lost your Refugee claim or Federal Court application. New evidence that directly affects you is best.
Anyone can keep submitting evidence until the PRRA Officer renders a decision.
PRAA and H&C are two totally different applications but if you mention risk to your life in an H&C it will be forwarded to a PRRA Unit and it will sit even longer.
Risk to life is PRRA and H&C factors are common sense and have nothing to do with any previous refugee claim! Most persons are not aware that you can submit a simultaneous H&C application along with your refugee claim and think that you should wait until you loose your refugee claim. I suggest you read the IP5 manual.

Hi, my parents, grandpa, little brother and i have been in canada for over 2 years. Our refugee claim was just denied, and we are at all loss, we cannot go back to colombia.
I dont know what to do, should we apply to the PRRA? what new evidence can we give? Will letters from teachers, friends, employers and the chancellor of a town be any help? What if I get a letter from the MP of my city?
Or should we go directly to the Federal Court? How is the appeal proccess?

I applied back in January 7, 2011; back then I summitted the new evidence, I´m still waiting for an answer but is getting difficult cause I don´t have a permit to work. I don´t know what to do; I´m from Colombia and can´t go back but this waiting is not a good way to live; Does anybody knows how long can the answer takes?
