Whazz this? Are we serenading the CIC now? Yijje don´t worry you are already in Canada. So your application will go thru´ one way or other... Just give it time and keep busy with lil things in Nanaimo. Man the real estate in Nanaimo is not cheap! Is it a resort city or something? I was checking out houses or townhouses for sale there... not much seems to be available.

Yep, Nanaimo is the destination of retired city, average house price is more than 200,000 dollars, average 50,000 hike each year, because here has waterfront, the best recreation facility in North America. Small size town with small crime rate, more and more lower mainland people wanna retired here or live here and go to work in Vancouver.
I love Nanaimo so much~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~here is my home~~~

don´t ever buy townhouse, you don´t own land and you have to pay monthly repair fee or those shit.
Buy the real house with land will help.
Yep house price here is much expensive than Alberta or Saskatechwan. You know? those retired people, they are rich.

Vancouver Island has the best weather in Canada, not too cold in winter(no more than -5), not too hot in summer(always 15--20)

nothing wrong with buying a townhouse or condo which is stratified. For many people it is the only way to own real estate in our big cities.
You put beautiful scenery and ocean and quick access to big cities... the price is not cheap! There are working people in Nanaimo too - lots of them!
You think that´s expensive... check out Cole Harbour or Yaletown in Vancouver for prices.

I am house shopping Canada big time. I will check out those places too, Sharon. I need something that I can own outright and have peace of mind while going about daily life. No I am not retired and no plans to retire for, maybe, 3-4 decades more. But I already owned a house in Colorado and it really gives ya a kick to say you own the damn thing completely!

most people are house poor in Vancouver and Toronto but there are beautiful spots all over the westcoast (sorry, that is the only part of the country I know well) that make great places to call home for far less money. I have my condo in a suburb of Vancouver. I understand exactly what you say.

Because you don´t own land, your develper can do whatever they like, even sold your land in the future. Yep, I don´t think I can own house in these 5---10 years in Nanaimo

Yijie... there is no developer that can sell anything out from under me. I own a share of my property. There is no expropriation claus in strata ownership. I think you might misunderstand the concept.
