Subject: Adoption Name Change Question
Hi, my wife (Canadian citizen) and I (British citizen) have recently adopted a baby and are waiting for the paperwork from our city office so we can get her name changed on her passport before we submit the sponsorship and permanent resident application.

My question is, since the name change is the only thing that will change on the passport - we have the option to have this inserted at the back as an amendment, this saves getting a brand new passport - could I simply submit the sponsorship and PR application and then submit the passport page with name change later when we get it?

Since I have the police check and medical done and all the paperwork filled out, I´d like to get it submitted sooner rather than later.

I e-mailed the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, who will be processing my PR application, and they advised me to have a friend or relative call Mississauga and find out what they say. I will do that, but saw your forum and thought I might get an answer here.

Thanks.
