Does a PR have the same privilege as a Citizen in sponsorring spouse in Canada?
The reason why I am asking is that in the US , there IS a big difference. US citizen can get spouse temp work permit and travel doc in 3 months, the spouse does not have to maintain a status of her own. While a US PR has a lot of limitations in sponsorring spouse.
My understanding is that in Canada, both citizen and PR can sponsor spouse and get paper work in 8 months or so. There is no difference in this respect for them.
Please comment. Thanks.

(in reply to: Citizen and PR?s privilege to sponsor spouse) Yes a PR in Canada can sponsor a spouse. But the PR must be living in Canada during the process.
Canadian citizens can sponsor a spouse while living outside of CAnada provided that the sponsor retruns to live in Canada when the spouse is landed.
