Subject: Medical for PR | Wife pregnant | Pls pls HELP!!!
  Hi,

I have received a request for medical examination from The Canadian Consulate General in New York to which my file has been forwarded for processing. The letter states that we need to send in all the medical reports within 60 days (i.e by June 5th, 2010).

I have 2 questions:
My spouse is pregnant and our baby is due on July 31, 2010. As advised by her OB-GYN, she cannot get her chest X-ray at this time. In this situation, what should be our next step as per the process? I am thinking of 2 options:

Option 1:
Send in all the medical reports right now except for my wife´s chest x-ray. In this case would we need to send her chest x-ray at a later date? Will we recieve any communication from the consulate for this?

Option 2:
Send a letter from her ob-gyn (stating she is pregnant), ask for an extension for filing the documents and then send all the documents together at a later date.

In either case, please let me know what would be the impact on the process.

Would highly appreciate your response to this matter.

Thanks!!!!

"Before a decision is made on this matter, you have the opportunity to provide any information you would like to be considered. Please write to this office within thirty (30) days of the date of this letter." reads my letter.

What I did after getting a medical request was to inform the office that I was taking steps or making efforts or being diligent toward my Permanent Resident application. I had an issue at the time with passports, for instance.

I believe that at this point, one needs to listen to the designated medical examiner who has experience and authority here regarding such a matter.

I would write a formal letter explaining the current situation with or without a doctor´s intervention.

Cordially yours,

Go for option 1.

The affiliated doctor write a comment in the assigned form. Medical forms go to the the medical section of Canadian Embassy probably at regional level (not to the visa office). Medical officer forwards the medical reports to the visa office.

Probably your spouse will get a letter mentioning "I appreciate your decision for not going to chest X-Ray.......and do it when it is convenient for you...."

In the mean time you may send a letter to visa office about your wife´s situation, if you want. After baby is born go to the doctor and ask for chest x-ray with a letter from medical officer. The doctor will forward it to the medical officer. In the mean time, inform the visa office about the baby birth and send birth certificate. They will probably ask you to update the status and send the forms again including your baby. So add another six month till visa stamping. Well, all the things depend on the visa office and country.
