Harish... start to do your own homework. workopolis.com; Canadait.com; monster.ca. you must learn how to find your own leads, opportunities and answers. that is the biggest secret to success in Canada. the answers we give you are from our own research. Stop being so lazy.

if possible, did any of you guys think of buying a business here?

I talked to some Korean ladies who own the laundrymart here. They first came to Canada, just go to buy some business which the owners can not operate or gonna close.
Self-employ. Ride a horse to find a horse is far more better than just wondering right?

you know what? I am always thinking like this way, in foreign country, don´t expect we gonna have same advantage as them, if possible, have your own business is far better.

Hi Sharon,
For your information I am already a Canadian PR and had worked in Canada before with CIBC. During my stay I found that very lousy. People were working like slaves for small returns and were hoping to settle down over a period of time.
I am not of that sort I managed a job in Singapore in IT and flew back I am PR here too.
Now I wish to come back but again with my head propping high on my shoulder. I cant do any damn job and keep thinking positive.
Thus if I know of any other avenue I can do my home work on that as well.

Harish...I think I understand your questions now. You have a very comfortable standard of living and a well paying job in Singapore and you do not want to go backwards in your efforts.

Recently in our newspapers there have been articles about this problem. Immigrants coming from Hong Kong and Singapore, wanting to enjoy the Canadian way of life but feeling a big shock that they do not earn the kinds of money they were used to in Hong Kong and Singapore. Our salaries are less but so is our cost of living. In many cases, those immigrants return home to chase the dollars and forget the quality of life. Sometimes wife and kids stay in Canada and father goes to live and work in Hong Kong. (we detest those kinds of PR´s - we call them Users)

The chances of you walking into a job at parallel prestige and salary are not very good. You will have to prove yourself in our labour market. There is no quick route. We cannot do a head hunting job for you. We do not know your skills, what areas of IT you are proficient in what your interests are, what other skills you have besides IT... and quite honestly - even then I do not think we can satisfy what you are wanting.

Your Canadian experience with CIBC - I am not sure what your job was but obviously in your mind it was beneath you. CIBC is not known to be a scum employer. I would suggest you have a serious look at your goals and expectations. Canada might not give you what you want.

By the way, do anybody of here know why and CTV always kick CIBC´s ass?
"debit card fraud" " fax account infromation to scrap yard".
seems like Bell and CIBC don´t like each other, kidding

I used to be a well paid Customs Broker, and later in Canada I was an Assistant Manager. After that the next thing I found myself doing was to change diapers to old ladies in old folks home in UK. Any work is valuable and we are in this planet to learn lessons about life. People who are afraid to get their hands dirty have no idea of what hard work means. They are just a waste of space with their big egos. I remember when the period of depression begun some people like that committed suicides after they made bankcrupt, because they had never learned how to cope during difficult times.
Besides I don´t think CIBC keeps slaves - as far as I know they do paperwork - have not seen many sweaty bodies.
In Canada ther is a lot of competition for jobs and you have to be the best to get one. Bad resume - no job.
