So my hubby is American and I am sponsoring him to come to Canada. We sent the applications out on feb 18 and they were received the next day. We sent everything together, fees, medicals, FBI check and both applications. We were organized and put it all in envelopes based on whether it was for Mississauga or buffalo. We received an aproval on march 16th from Mississauga for the sponsorship.

On April 15th the ecas changed to processing in buffalo. On the 25th of April we got a letter stating there was a form missing from the medical. This posed a problem because over Easter weekend hubby came up here an wad granted a visitors visa. On the 24th of April we received a call from Mississauga stating that they found the missing form and they would forward it to buffalo (the medicals were sent before the paperwork so apparently they got misplaced). We received another letterfrom buffalo dated the 24th saying that no interview is needed at this time. They asked us to forward the medicals a they finalize the application.

So the question is, assuming there are no more problems with the medicals, how much longer will it be? Does it mean we don´t have to do an interview at all?

Thanks in advance for your replies

You sent the medical green form before the application? Look at it this way if the same officer retains the file you should be fine.

yes, essentially it was sent before because we didn´t know the doctor sends it to CIC. We did the exam before submitting the application thinking we could just include it in our envelope. Any idea how mug longer is left?

Buffalo has not decided if you need an interview - ´for now´ means just that - for now. How much longer is left depends on how complete your application is, how well you have proved your relationship, how your hubby´s medical and police records look.

The best thing you can do is review the processing time list on the CIC website. That gives you a historical range. All we will do is look at the same list to tell you.

So this morning I checked the ecas and it says medicals have been received and a decision has been made. We have had no interview, but they did ask for medicals so fron what I´ve read here the medical request is a good thing. The entire process thus far has taken only 3 and a half months so far from when we sent the applications in. I know I should just wait for the letter but I´m worried cuz it happened so quickly. Are chances good that everything wad aproved? My husband has medical issues that could have had a negative effect on the decision.

you are asking questions that nobody can answer. you are simply going to have to take a very big breath, go for a long walk with your sweetie and wait. Nobody here can predict the content of the letter.

you can try the Call Centre but they may not have any info either.

Worry is bad for your health.

Thanks for the reply, we received his passport request today. We were given the option to mail it and it takes 15 days or to travel to buffalo and get it in person. We are mailing it tomorrow (I can´t get the time off work for at least 2 weeks so mail will be quicker). When he gets it back, can we travel to the border for him to "land" any day/time? (ie before the visa expires but we might do it at night or on the weekend). We would go to the niagara falls border, do their offices close?
