Subject: From non skilled worker to skilled worker
I lost my status in the US and came back to Mexico. I am a accountant with a MSCA certification (networks). I am 43 and it has been difficult to find jobs down here and I am running out of savings. My brother invited me to apply through a local company for a temporary job in Alberta under a Low Skill Work Visa, as he had done for the last couple of years. This program offers one year of employment after which you have to come back to your country, wait 6 month before applying again. It requires that you have a minimum (not a maximum) of High School education and to be able to speak some English (40% according to the the contracting agency). I used to work as a warehouse and shipping clerk while in college. They need warehouse workers at $15CAN/Hr. This is way better salary than what many companies have offered me here in Mexico.
Questions:
Once in Alberta can I apply for PR from within Canada?
Would it help doing it so or will it hinder my application?
If I find an employer willing to hire me in a Skilled Job, can I change visa status without having to leave Canada?
