Poor, wanting to move to Canada.

Subject: Poor, wanting to move to Canada.
I am poor, just graduated high school, and I want to move to Canada.
It just seems to overwhelming, apparently, to gain a letter of acceptance in any of the colleges in Victoria, you need a study permit, and to be granted a study permit you need, of course, a letter of acceptance. Of course you can get around this by paying a hefty sum.
What kind of system is that?
This school bit is the only way I´ve seen that is likely to work, but I don´t have the money for that, either.
Can anyone who went through a similar situation help, or can someone give me some advice on a better way to immigrate?
Is it really only the rich who´re allowed to move?

it makes me very sad to say that there are very few opportunities for someone without financial resources to immigrate to Canada. When my grandparents came, they arrived with nothing. That is no longer an option.

As a student, you have to show money enough to look after yourself while you are at school. I am guessing that is not possible for you. You should not have to pay for a letter of acceptance -your grades should be good enough.

I have watched a friend with a doctorate degree try to come to Canada. He earned $500 a month. How on earth was he supposed to save up $10,000 to fufill his money requirements? How on earth was he supposed to save up the $1,500 for his immigration fees.

The best shot you have is either the student visa, a schoolarship or a work permit that would let you into the country without the cash requirements for settlement. A work visa is very tough to get in this economy.

You have not mentioned what you hope to study? Are you marks good?

Brandon, I hear your sadness and I understand it very well. I wish it could be different but that is the reality all over the world.

keep hoping, and keep trying.

I plan on studying Psychology and have a 3.1 GPA.
I don´t know if you work of the same grade scale as us, so that´s a B.
See, the student visa is the problem.
To get a work permit you must have been studying for (this period of time).
To study in Canada, you must have a study permit.
To attain a study permit, you must have a letter of acceptance.
And this is where it gets strange...
To receive a letter of acceptance, you must have a study permit.
To obtain a letter of acceptance without a study permit (so you can get your study permit) you must pay (this sum of money.)
This is what my research has led me to.
My two friends Canadaside who I´d be living with are helping me with the research, but in the end, this seems the only viable way.
It´s all very disheartening. Today is when we discovered, and it´s been a tough blow to our moral. =(
lol. I wrote here out of desperation, and I thank you for your attempts to help, and ask for anything else you might be able to come up with.
I am intelligent, I am hard-working. I will become a psychologist, surely a profession you could use?
There´s just this hurdle in the way, and we´re, again, my friends and I, desperately seeking an answer to our problems.
Again, thanks for any and all advice. :D

Well seeing as your in the US where the schools are pretty good i cant see how they would give you a study visa to canada without the acceptance letter.
Im sorry my friend but you need to apply to the university and hope they accept you and send you this letter.
But how do you intend to pay for university? If you have nothing. You would have to apply for a work permit once you got here anyway.
And i cant see them wanting a study visa first.Apply to the school see what they say.

I used to have money saved in the Bank when I got to Canada. Now I am as poor as you are maybe. I live from pay cheque to pay cheque and basically just earn to the stadard of living. Moving to Canada may require you to get in debt.

a bachelor degree in psychology does not give you many job opportunities. It would need to be combined with something.
