Subject: Skilled Worker Visa / Contact near Portland, USA
  Hi!

Can anybody suggest a good immigration expert close to Portland, Oregon?

I´m originally from Europe and work in the US since 3 years on a work Visa. It was always my dream moving and working in Canada for a couple years! I don´t have a job offer from Canada but enough financial recourses to get trough for 1-2 years in case I don´t find a job immediately.

Before I just send in my forms for the Skilled work Visa I think it´s a good idea to talk about them with an expert. Especially the information of the European school system can not be translated one by one to the Canadian!

Thanks!!

TS,

If you are applying as a FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER CLASS (FSW) then you need to check whether you are eligible or not. See the below mentioned website,

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list

If you are applying as a PROVINCIAL NOMINEE CLASS (PNP) then you have three option,

1. See Alberta Provincial Nominee CLASS (AINP), if you are eligible to apply as they have a special category for USA work visa holder. See the website for NOCs mentioned there. In this case you dont need a job offer letter and its faster than any other PNP class.

http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/media/h1b_AINP_Occupations_Under_Pressure_List.pdf

2. See Quebec Skilled worker Class if you are eligible or not? If you have French knowledge you have a very good chance to go there. Its slow process, but you can go ahead and apply without having job offer letter.

3. For anyother provinces than mentioned above two you have to have the job offer letter to be qualified for PNP class and a family tie in that province.

I suggest to do it your self rather than hiring someone as its not that difficult to fill out the forms and answer their questions. Rest is upto you.

Best luck,
Nisha

Thanks for the fast response Nisha!

One additional question to the Alberta Provincial Nominee: Am I restricted to work in Alberta then or is it also possible to look for jobs anywhere else?

Thx!!

TS,

If you dont find work for enough period of time (6-9 months) and then you are trying to search outside of Alberta is an acceptable case otherwise, you have to search for the job pretty much in Alberta, as the PNP class is for the people who want to bring something good for that province and govt. of that province is allowing you to come there because they see potential in youself that you will be living there working there and helping in being the economy level up.

Best luck
Nisha

Nisha, please reference where 6-9 months of job hunting relieves you from your PNP obligations.

Hi
As you mentioned above, need to show how you benefit the province by migrating from alberta to other region, I want to know if there is any proof you have to keep as being a beneficial migrant to province!

Thanks
