Permanent residence application in Honduras

Subject: Permanent residence application in Honduras
I am looking for some help regarding my husbands PR application currently being proccessed at the Canadian embassy in Guatemala.

First of all, he has lived in the U.S, and Mexico for more than six months in the past ten years, so he has to obtain a criminal record clearance from those countries.

Whenever I phone to inquire about this with immigration, they tell me to look on the website and follow all the directions..
Apparently you are suppose to have all the clearances before you apply, but when my husband went to the police station to get finger print cards done, they told him that immigration has to send him a form to bring, fill out and send to the FBI.

It just seems a little bit confusing because if he has to wait for a letter, then why is it required to have it before sending the application for PR? They wont even give you a finger print card without a letter?

I´m really worried because we have been separated from each other for six months, and they sent a letter that states that they will make a decision within four months from the date. According to that letter they should have the decision made by July 1st 2010.. But it takes three months to get the clearance from the US.. and I don´t know about Mexico.

PLEASE ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!

Yes you are suppose to include all police clearences with the app.But as for them sending a letter for finger prints no who ever told you that is an idiot.
Go to a different police officer one that knows what he is talking about.
And if clearences are not with the app you may have it sent back to you.
You must have the clearences before you send in the app.
And im not sure about the four months depends on the visa office.
And yes if you lived in a country for 6 months or more you need a police search for that country,

Yeah, thats what they say when I phone the immigration line.. But the police station, every one there was telling him to do it with the form ..

It´s really frustrating because my husband has to take a trip to the city to do all the paperwork. It´s dangerous and it costs money to get him there.. They wouldn´t even do the finger prints for him..

The application does take four months for them to make a decision, they sent a letter that stated that. They recieved his application, and haven´t sent it back yet :S

Thanks for the help though, I really appreciate the feedback .
