Auto sales are way up including Pick Up Trucks so the trades must be doing well. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/technology/Chrysler+Canada+sales+leap/3102138/story.html

GM has started a new shift in their Oshawa location.

People are spending money big time. Things in Ontario are coming up Roses.

I sure hope this sticks. Something about it makes me very nervous. 1988 anyone?

What makes me most nervous is the real estate prices. I was listening to someone explaining that our prices are being fueled buy offshore investors taking their money out of other investments and parking it with Canadian real estate until the global situation settles down. Canada and Australia are locations of choice. When they decide to liquidate and go back to the stock market or whatever it is they normally do... we are going to have a problem.

Ontario being the Industry base of Canada seemed to get hit the hardest and is bounding back the strongest.

Housing prices are still very strong in the Greater Toronto Area and have never really gone down. Of course some say the housing prices are too high and there will be a bust.

Look at the little increase in interest rates. Why would housing sales slow down with a quarter percent increase? The government just announced new employment stats and they were way above what anyone expected.

from my understanding we´re at approx. 75% of where we were before the banking crises started. in other words we still need to catch up quite a large portion. with the slow down on the american market (making 80% of canadian exports) and the financial crises in europe (which has a stronger impact on the CAD than on the USD), the perspective is not too good.

I appreciate that Roy postetd this news on the website. but it is sending out the wrong message to potential immigrants since there are by not enough job openings and the chances finding a job are still very slim!!!

so long

Canada has make a remarkable recovery out of the recession but even the Finance Minister suggests it is too soon to break open the champagne. There is too much stuff happening around us that is out of our control. We can cross our fingers and hope but there are lots of jittery economists out there that are preaching caution.

Brian, you are right... there are still lots of Canadians that need to get their old jobs back before there are jobs available for newcomers. Specific skill sets - perhaps but this is definitely not 2006. BUT it is sure a heck of a lot better than 2008- 2009 and that is worth some sort of party.
