Subject: Roy/nisha/sharon.....if you can advise
I am in international student here in Toronto. I have a situation and was wondering if something can be done.
The situation is: My mother as a principal applicant applied for PR in 2005 at New Delhi office. We got updation letter in December 2008 and sent the updation by January 2009. Being on dependent status, I came to canada on student visa in September 2008 for my Master’s. Now i saw on CIC website regarding new rules and heard that they are now picking up cases from the backlog according to some job list (My mother works as a manager in Bank).

Is there any hope that our case would be finalized sometime soon or something can be done regarding that except waiting? As I am finishing my masters this semester so would not be a dependent anymore.

Thanks

Hi Munish,

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp

Visit the above mentioned website, I am not sure about whether you can do something about your mother´s file from India.

Above mentioned website suggest that you can transfer your study permit to PR status eventually. See if you qualify or not, if not then how long still you need to wait.

Can you provide the link to the article where you read the new rule of picking specific cases based on their job profile?

Best luck,
Nisha

Hello nisha,

Thanks for your reply. its such a long wait and the bad part is cic does not provide any information on latest status of the case.

Regarding your query, I have read about the new rules that apply to application after 28th feb 2008.
But I have not read myself (listened from some friends) anywhere if they are picking up old cases considering the job profile.

Munish
