Subject: SINGLE TO MARRIED STATUS BEFORE VISA APPLICATION
hi i hope anyone could help me in my dilemma, i recently got my letter of approval from manitoba that they are nominating me for permanent resident status, is it ok if my application in manitoba is single, then my visa application here in the philippines would be as married? i hope to include my boyfriend in my visa application but there is no fiance support we´re thinking of getting married before i pass my visa application. so just to reiterate my problem is: APPROVED NOMINATION FROM MANITOBA AS SINGLE, BUT WANTS VISA APPLICATION TO BE AS MARRIED. WOULD THERE BE PROBLEMS? hope to hear from anyone as im very confused and lost right now, thanks.

BIG problems. The minute you change your status, you are required to notify CIC so they can stop everything and change your application to include your spouse.

Get your immigration complete, land, return home to marry boyfriend... come back to Canada and sponsor him - OR, get married, notify CIC IMMEDIATELY and prepare to have your Manitoba nominee application reviewed and your new spouse included in your application.

No other way around it. If you do not do one of the above you can/will be charge with misrepresentation and your application will be rejected.

serious stuff.

if you are married already, inform them ASAP. (they will have to include your wife to your application).
if you are still single, as Sharon said, wait for your visa, then land here in Canada, and then go back to Philippines, and get married, and then sponsor your wife as you get back here in canada.

theres no short cut thing. if u get you land in Canada as single, and say later that "o im married, can i sponsor my wife? then the answer would be NO.

have you been approved for Manitoba selection or not? if so, your status is already locked in on your immigration application.

yes. Did you apply for Manitoba selection as single? if so, then you have to notify them

you are entitle to sponsor your girlfriend once you are married. you must be living in Canada when you file your documents and she will have to wait in your home country for the process to complete. It can take anywhere from 6 months to a year.

pleas help (in reply to: SINGLE TO MARRIED STATUS BEFORE VISA APPLICATION)
Good afternoon,
my name is Ivana Petrač Clair and I am citizen of Croatia. I married Canadian citizen 5 months ago in New Brunswick Canada. I got my visitor extension until 29, Jan 2011. however I had to leave Canada because of death in family and it happen before I even apply for my permanent residency in Canada. I see that my extension does not authorize re-entry so I was wandering can I re-enter Canada without my return ticket to Croatia? My extension was based on my marriage. My husband is sponsoring me while I am staying in Canada. The thing is I dont have job in Croatia right now so I plan to apply for permanent residency within Canada on his coast. Can i do that? I would appreciate your help.. thank you so much..
