Subject: Getting married after visa already stamped
  Hello Everyone,

I need some advice regarding immigration to Canada. My details are as follows:

I applied from Dubai to the London office and this year in March 2010, my process was complete and my visa was stamped and passport returned to me. I am supposed to make my first landing before November 2010. I am the only applicant and had applied as an "unmarried single applicant."
The issue now is that my marriage has been fixed in July 2010. What should I do now?

Option 1: Should I goto Canada before my wedding for a week and take my PR. Then come back to Dubai and get married and then inform CIC London?

Option 2: Should I get married now and then inform CIC London that I am married and wait for their advice. How long will it take for them to complete my wife´s application along with mine and then issue visa for both of us? Will they ask me to re-apply all over again from the start as husband and wife?

Which is the best option for me? I want to make sure I keep them informed all the time about any changes I have. Is there any chance all this will affect my visa/application which at the moment is completed?

Thanks for your help in advance...but really need some advice.

Please advice which is a suitable solution or if there is any other solution to this. Please note that since he currently has a job here, he plans to get the PR card and come back to Dubai for an year or so before permanently migrating to Canada.

Thank you for your help.

You can do that, but the problem is that you cannot sponsor your wife while you are outside of Canada. You have to reside in Canada in order to sponsor your wife.

If you get married before landing you MUST inform CIC, otherwise there are three things that might happen:
a)You might be refused of entry upon your arrival based on misrepresentation.
b)If you get into Canada, once you try to sponsor your wife, CBSA can write what is called a report 44 (a) charge you for misrepresentation, come after your PR.
c)Best case scenario, CBSA/CIC don´t revoke your PR but you will never be able to sponsor your wife.

Again, if you get married, inform CIC BEFORE LANDING IN CANADA, they will send you some forms to add your wife to your application and both of you can land together, that is probably the best thing to do in your situation.

DocD,
Thanks for your kind suggestions. But I have a few more questions on the different options:

Based on OPTION 1 (PR/Landing before wedding):
1a) If I sponsor my wife after I permanently move to Canada, will there be any issues or is it just a regular step by step procedure?
1b)Plus, how long will it take to sponsor wife provided all documents from our side are correct and no delay from my side in submission?
1c)Also, in this case, do I need to inform CIC London even after landing completed or is it some other authority that I need to update that I got married after my PR/Landing?

Based on OPTION 2:
2a) Is it a good idea to inform CIC London now itself that my wedding is fixed for July 2010?
2b) If I inform them of my impending marriage now itself before landing, what will happen to the stamped visa in my passport?
2c) How long does it take to include wife´s application along with mine?
2d) Does this option jeopardize my overall application by any chance? Any possibility that they will cancel out my application and ask me to re-apply from scratch for both of us in some other family class etc?

3) Which one is a bigger risk...also keeping time taken for each in consideration?

Really appreciate your help and thanks for the same DocD. Please provide answers for the above questions and help me out. Thanks.
