Subject: English exam
I do not have IELTS and I am planning to submit other proofs of english proficiency. I have worked in the US form 1994-1998. Currently I work in the Philippines. I do not want my current employer to know that I am planning to migrate to Canada. Because of this, I do not want to ask for certification for use of english at work. Can you give me suggestions regarding other documents that I can submit for english proficiency?

Submit proof of your education in English. Try to get a reference letter from your professor. Attach correspondence which you do at work (e.g. email, fax, memos, etc.)

Neither your work experience nor your correspondence at work is enough to prove your proficiency in English. CIC wants to know on what basis you are claiming full points for language ability. If your medium of study at graduate and/or under-graduate level was English, then you have to provide your transcripts with a copy of degree. In addition to that try to get a letter from your university stating what level of English proficiency was required to successfully complete the course curriculum. This would increase your chances of getting an interview waiver. My suggestion once you get your file number, try to take IELTS. A score of 7 in each section of IELTS would give you full points.

If you say that you do not want to take a letter from your employer... How will you get experience certiicate from your employer???

As far as the language proficency is concerned... You can write a covering letter explaining why you should be exempted from taking IELTS and you have the required english skills. Now you have a positive point about your work in the US from 1994 to 1998.

And sure you did not use sapnish all time to communicate while in the US... Anyways... back to the point... a cover letter is a must explaining your language skills. I should work fine... but just be sure how will you show the current employment in Phillipines...

Cheers,
HS

No worry; hand write a letter explaining what you have done here. You should be fine. I did not take any English Exam and I was fine with the letter explaining why I don´t need any exam.

Written explanation or cover letter is fine to get u file # or AOR but not enough to get you interview waiver. My point was to increase your chances of getting an interview waiver. Nothing other than IELTS can prove your proficiency in English. After you get ur AOR there would be plenty of time for you to prepare for IELTS.

I already sent a letter with supplementary documents that shows my education in USA. but they sent me back the documents and apparently that letter was not sufficient. Is there anyone who was fine just by letter without taking IELTS? Please help me

take the IELTS test - otherwise you may not get the points you think you deserve.
