Subject: Police clearance from multiple/difficult countries
  Thanks for the useful forum.
My wife and I are US and UK citizens and have worked for international NGOs for many years and lived in many countries in the course of that work, including places where it may be difficult to get a police clearance: Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the self-declared republic of Somaliland, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, China: all for at least one year. We are applying for permanent residence. Does anyone know whether we have to get clearance from all these countries? We currently live and work in Tanzania.

Hi Mark,
I lived for some time in Tajikistan and for 10 years in Uzbekistan. It´s very easy to get PPC from Uzbekistan. First of all u need PPC only from those countries where your duration of stay was at least for 6 months. Both Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have their consulate offices in the US. U have to send a Money order of $40 along with a written request for PPC. I didn´t require anything from Tajikistan as I my duration of stay was only for few weeks but I did get one from Uzbekistan It took me 1 month after they received my written request. Uzbekistan embassy would require u to provide your residential addresses in Uzbekistan, which OVIR you were registered with and what was the organization you were attached with. This you have to provide on a separate sheet. They do have a specific form for that but it´s is in Russian. I have that form and can send it to u if u can write Russian other wise no problem. Just send them cover letter and that information on separate sheet. It should be good enough.
All the best.
Aki

Oh boy I can relate to that: I lived in Russia and Ethiopia for many years and now having a serious problem with both of those countries. I was advised to go to Moscow and Addis Ababa to get these clearances, which of course I am not going to do. I got clearances for the US, India, and Seden where I also lived. I am not sure if the CIC demands that I bring clearance from the two nut cases. I wrote to CIC a letter explaining why I can´t get clearance from those places but it seems they might ask to get official letters from their embassies explaining why they can´t issue these certificates. This looks like a mess. I will inform people here once my case is resolved. Meanwhile, good luck. I would suggest you go to their embassies in Dar Es Salaam and ask them. If they tell you they can´t issue such certificates, get letters from the Consul Services explaining that fact. I hope this helps.

Police Certificate from Russia (in reply to: Police clearance from multiple/difficult countries)
Its far more better to burn your ass than getting a police certificate from Russian Embassy. I tried to convince them a lot, that it is merely required for processing of Immigration and showed them the Canadian Immigration requirement paper. But seems they are hard cracked nuts.

I´m repentant as to why i lived/studied and worked in Russia. It is extremely difficult to get even one document out of cooperation from them..

I don´t know how others will get their issue resolved, but i failed in my attempt to do so.

Best of luck to you all and if anyone succeed, let me know

Live–in Caregiver Training Program is designed to provide female and male students 19 – 55 years old with an unique opportunity to study, work and then immigrate to Canada under Live-in Caregiver Program which was introduced by Canadian government
The TLC Edmonton Live-in Caregiver Training Course is a full-time, seven months (one month orientation to Canada and immersion in English and 6 months in the classroom, minimum 750 hour), government accredited, training program that prepares student to work in a Canadian family, either as AuPair caring for children or as a Caregiver to a dependent elderly or disabled person.
Instruction includes both theory and hands-on, in-school practice. Student learns through lectures, textbooks, audio-visuals, individual and group projects, and class discussions. Assessment and feedback are given on an ongoing basis and, upon completion of the course, student will receive a diploma

For anyone planning to live, work, or immigrate to Canada as a Caregiver, there are several clear advantages to participate in Live-in Caregiver Training Program.

Canadian Live-in Caregiver Program
There is a huge shortage of Live-in Caregivers in Canada. To address this problem, the federal government has introduced a program to enable private households to hire caregivers from abroad. This program is called the ´Live-in Caregiver Program´ and it allows suitably qualified people from other countries to enter Canada and work as Live-in Caregivers.
Staring salaries of Caregiver are generally at, or slightly above, the minimum wage levels, which differ by province, but are typically around $8.00 CAD to $10.00 CAD per hour. Live-in caregiver will receive from the employer apart from the salary:

Accommodation arrangements (including room and board)
• Holiday and sick leave entitlements
• Medical insurance coverage provided from the date of starting to work until caregiver is eligible for provincial health insurance
• Workplace safety insurance coverage for the duration of the employment
• All recruitment fees, including any amount payable to a third-party recruiter or agents hired by the employer that would otherwise have been charged to caregiver
When Live-in Caregiver will apply for permanent residence all family members living in Canada and abroad must be included in to application for permanent resident status in Canada. Their applications for permanent resident status will be processed at the same time as Caregiver. Family members living abroad will not receive their papers to come to Canada until Live-in Caregiver receive permanent resident status.
Effective April 1, 2010, Live-in Caregivers working in Canada under the Live-in Caregiver Program:
have two options for calculating their work experience to be eligible to apply for permanent residence
• 24 months of authorized full-time employment, or
• a total of 3,900 hours of authorized full-time employment;
