Do it Yourself - is it worth it?

Subject: Do it Yourself - is it worth it?
There is a raging debate that goes on here all the time about the complexity of Family Class (Spousal) sponsorship and how easy it is to do it on your own.

Based on the number of disasters that frequently show up on this forum where people have attempted to do things themselves and have ended up with removal orders, or denied applications, I would suggest that perhaps that notion of ´easy´ should be reconsidered.

If you have kids from a previous marriage, if you have overstayed a visitors visa, if you have any sort of criminal record, if you have been ignoring deportation orders, if you are sponsoring for the second time, if you are in an arranged marriage or met online... STOP and think.

Coming to this forum after the fact and crying the blues because you have been unsuccessful or are now flagged at the border for misrepresentation of intent is too late to be asking questions or seeking help.

This is not a sales pitch for Roy. This is an attempt to save people some grief. Get help.

Sharon excellent timing based on the fact that I met a woman from Ottawa in downtown Toronto yesterday.

She met a man through a friend and they saw each other on skype and started chatting through a mutual friend.

She was one religion he was another neither were that religous but he converted to her religion. She was older and well established compared to him.

He applied for a visitor visa and was refused.

On the schedule one question (9) they had check off the box stating he was refused admission, yet he was never refused admission to Canada. They failed to check off the box stating

WHOOPS CONT´D

that he was previously sought a visitor visa box number two or box number three a visitor visa was refused.

That is a prime example of misrepresntation even though it was not intentional.

given the time and money involved... never mind the potential impact on your entire life- you would think people would do a little more homework. It´s not like you can call up the IO and chat it up or plead your case that you screwed up and can you have another try. It is usually a no, goodbye, start again and pay again, or wait and wait and wait.

We want instant immigration, instant success when we arrive, instant jobs, instant wealth, instant integration, and no inconvenience whatsoever.

It is not real life.

Always retain an immigration lawyer.

Though you will be the one who´s running around gathering the documents.

Just trust your feeling!

Never retain anyone who can not show you he/she has considerable experience is reputable and will provide references for you to speak to.

The amount of money any Law Firm can make from a Spousal Sponsorship for the proper time needed normally means your case is assigned to a staff member.

No representative can gather your documents for you and these should be readily avaailable if requested. Anything that could be deemed unusual needs to be explained. if you get married a few days after meeting one another in person after a lenghty Internet romance tell them that you just had to be with him but could not until you were married if that was the case.

Take pictures of the two of you on web cam having various conversations. Different outfits, etc. Virtually no one uses snail mail or even the telephone much more so you must show that your maintaining contact.

I would never say (always) hire a Immigration Lawyer but rather hire someone that is going to have hands on with your file. If that is a Lawyer fine if it is a Consultant fine.

Best of luck.

Vitorelli I TY for helping me improve my income!

YOUR ADVICE!

So give twenty dollars for a donation and because the organization is well ran and has neat and tidy desks with healthy plants a married couple should use a particular church or ethnic group and risk their future happiness together on your advice. LOL

If you give the organization money they have to be a PAID REPRESENTATIVE! The applicant fails to disclose they have paid someone on his/her application this would be a reason for refusal. Have you not been reading the papers or C 11?

An ethnic group (which is very well run) in Toronto told a man not to put down he had been working in Canada when he had six days a week for years earning a very high income. He had married a well educated Canadian woman recently but had been living with her illegally for seven years.

No Immigration Officer would believe this female ecevutive married this lazy bum would they? Vitorelli are you going to claim she could be a Cougar and is willing to pay everything just because he is good in bed. Is that your logical explanation why he resided whith this woman for seven years and never worked??????

A well ran ethnic group also told this couple that they didn´t need to pay an application fee until approved so they submitted their spousal application with no processing fees.

Vitorelli I am not some tow truck driver sitting on the side of a highway waiting for an accident. When I give advice it is common sense. I give examples of the mistakes people can make because (I KNOW) my clients have experieced these ill advised well run organizations.

I also remember when my car died during rush hour on the 401 due to a broken alternator belt, just how happy I was to see that tow truck driver hooking me up while cars flew by on both sides at 140k per hour.

Now if I had said only hire me, or if I had said just hire a Lawyer or any Consultant then your personal attack just might be warranted. Your advice makes it seem that any partner should NOT be concerned about having their better half refused no matter how they met, whether they rushed into the marriage, different religions, cultural differences, second, third or fourth marriages etc. readers should take your advise.

BUT.....this is what I wrote!

Quote "Never retain anyone who can not show you he/she has considerable experience is reputable and will provide references for you to speak to." UnQuote

I was also quaoted in the Globe and Mail that proving a bogus marriage when you have money is sometimes easier than proving a genuine marriage when your short of funds.

I WANT TO THANK YOU BECAUSE.......

I make the majority of my business income from winning Spousal Appeals because unsuspecting applicants and Spousal sponsors take your advice or do their applications themselves.

TY, TY, TY, TY, Vitorelli!
