Subject: Sponsoring just one parent?
  Hello,

I submitted the application to qualify as a sponsor for my parents about two years ago and I just received a positive answer the the application documents for my parents. However, in the meantime, my father acquired an illness which I suspect will make him inadmissible to Canada.

Is it possible to send the application just for my mom? Or is the ineligibility of one parent grounds for refusing both of them?

I really appreciate any advice and help you might have!

Thank you,

Moose74

you would want to deliberately separate your parents?

Sharon,

They would not be separated. They would stay here on and off, just one of them would be permanent resident and the other not. All I want to know whether it is legally possible just for one of them to be permanent resident.

if your non-resident parent requires a Visa to visit - you are probably dreaming that they would be allowed to come. Way too much motivation for them not to return home.

I would recommend applying for both and take your chances on the health issues. Better odds than your plan B

Thank you Sharon,

They both already have visitor visas and have been here already 3-4 times over the last 5 years. They never broke the conditions of their stay.

then why sponsor them?

CIC is going to be very confused.

Hi there,

Yes, you are correct in your assessment. If any one of the parents is diagnosed with a medical condition which will result in an excessive demand on canadian health system, both the parents are inadmissible on health grounds. Yet, they may be admissible even with some disease. All this depends upon the disease they are having, which you have not clarified here.

Sponsoring parents (in reply to: Sponsoring just one parent?)
hello every body,
thanks to whomever created this forum. i am a canadian PR and want to sponsor my parents and siblings from Afg. wanted to ask from any body who knows about sponsoring ones parents and siblings. i went to the checklist forms, but i am confused as to which forms should be sent for the approval to CIC-M. other than sponsorship undertaking, financial evaluation etc do other forms like their criminal checks etc are also sent or thats the 2nd step, once the sponsorship is approved and I am informed of it that than those forms needs to be filled?
please name those forms specifically from the checklist that should be sent on the 1st round.
also will i recieve a letter from CIC-M that they recieved my application of sponsorship or not?
any help would be highly appreciated.
