Subject: Ticket return or one way?
  Hey everyone,

Me (Dutch) and my Canadian boyfriend are working on an outland (so start with me being in Holland) common law family sponsor visa.
I want to come to Canada as soon as my boyfriend has mailed in the application papers. Tough.. a question: could I just buy a one way ticket and get approved to come into Canada, or do I need to buy a return ticket?
Another question: how long can I ´just´ stay in Canada and wait for the visa to get approved and I can start working in Canada. (already used up the two working visa´s I can get)

Thank you so much in advance!

Becka

Are you familiar with outland applications?

1. Get the landing visa in your country of origin.

2. Land in Canada

3. Start a new life

Well yes, but as I have understoud, during the time that the application is being processes, I can enter, leave and re-enter Canada:

Outside Canada
•average of 6 to 12 months to process routine applications
•right of appeal
•you can leave and re-enter Canada while your application is being processed as long as you meet all requirements to enter Canada
•if you want to work in Canada while your application is being processed, you must apply for a regular work permit

You arrive at a port of entry and your asked the following;

"Your purpose to enter Canada today is"?

To stay here with my partner while I get processed for permanent residency status.

"So your not a visitor"?

That is the beginning of the worse case scenario and then you just might walk right through with no problem. Have no return ticket and you sure do not appear to be a visitor.

He is Canadian so submit today and play house with him over there. When your NOT requested to attend an interview send him home and follow within a month or so when you have your visa.

A Canadian can sponsor while they are outside of Canada.

Two things:

1- You DO need a return ticket. If the officer asks for it and you don´t have it, likely that is the end of the road for you based on your story along.

2- When or If your application is approved, you have to leave Canada and then re-enter. You cannot become a PR within Canada under your current situation. Assuming that you are allowed to enter the country.

Just the way you worded your story and your plan, you are setting your self to be refused of entry into this country, since you don´t appear to be a TEMPORARY visitor.
Yet that is how you are presenting your self at the port of entry.

Your best option is to submit your application, wait until you obtain your PR visa and CORP and then land in Canada.
