Subject: Why no AOR but have file number?
Hi, I haven´t received AOR since I filed my application in Sep. 2004. In Jan. 2005 I got a letter telling me that the initial assessment of my application will soon begin, besides, there´s my file number on top of the letter. How is that? Don´t we all have to receive an AOR? and a financial receipt? I´m really puzzled. Could anyone please help me out. Thank you so much!

Number in the AOR should do it. It starts with the letter "B" followed by 9 digits.

Good luck

thank you and IELTS (in reply to: Why no AOR but have file number?)
Thank you guys for your kind reply. Now I have another question, my IELTS average is 7, but speaking is only 6, will that affect my application? I´ve been worried a lot about it and are considering retake the exam. Do you guys think it´s necessary? Thanks a lot!!

If you got 6 in speaking then you would be scored on the point scale of moderate (ie 2 points instead of the maximum 4 points). The overall band score is not what is used for awarding points. You need to check the individual band scores. Check the CIC website for details on English language proficiency qualifications
