I recently applied to sponsor my wife to Canada, and she´s awaiting the results of background check before the visa is issued. She has done her medicals and interview at the Embassy in Manila. Now, the issue is we have a disagreement that cannot be resolved except thru´ divorce. My wife´s family had asked that I wait to hear the outcome of the visa applicatiion before proceeding with the divorce. They also want her to land in Canada, before I file for divorce. We have both agreed to divorce, and there is no turning back even if she´s here in Canada. However, I feel this is fraudulent, ´cos if I no longer intend to continue with the marriage, then she does not need to come to Canada. What can I do in this situation? Can I withdraw the sponsorship application, or just go ahead and file a divorce and inform the embassy in Manila about the pending divorce action? Please advise.....

(in reply to: Sponsorship and divorce) ethically, you should withdraw the sponsorship. Don´t forget, you will be financially responsible for your wife for 3 years - divorced or not. What her family is requesting is for you to commit fraud. It could wreck any future consideration to sponsor another partner.

(in reply to: Sponsorship and divorce) STOP HER...she just want to land in Canada and then for you it would be a troble, you won´t sponsor anyone until you comply the 3 years commitment support....and she will get the residence by you....surprise, she can sponsor another person immediately but you won´t until 3 yrs. it´s funny hahhh?
