Subject: Getting married outside of Canada (to a foreigner) |

Good Evening,
I am a Canadian currently in South Africa with my fiancee. We are getting married in April - in South Africa - and afterwards are planning on moving to Vancouver to live "happily ever after". I am trying to find out what pitfalls one may encounter when bringing their nealy-wed wife into Canada for the first time. She does have her visitors visa, so their is no problem as far as that goes.
Any advice one can lend would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Scott

(in reply to: Getting married outside of Canada (to a foreigner)) So long as her visitor´s visa is still valid whenever the two of you enter Canada, I don´t think you should encounter any problems.
I´m going to assume that the plan is for you to sponsor her for permanent residence once the two of you are both living in Canada. If this is the case, she will have to make sure that she maintains her legal status in the country until her permament residence application is finalized and she is granted permanent resident status.
