Subject: Sharon: Where the passport is sent back?
I am a designated representative for my wife and she is overseas. I just submitted the joint application to the Mississauga CPC. My question is once the process is over, where her passport will be sent back to, to me or to her overseas? Thanks

Hi,

To answer your question, where her passport will get sent back will mainly depend on how it is sent to the visa office once it is requested.

Scenario 1: She simply sends in her passport.

In this case the visa office will send her passport back via normal mail service and would most likely send it to the address they have on file for her. And since you are her designated representitive, I assume it will be sent to you as your address would be the one they have on file for all correspondences.

Scenario 2: She sends in her passport & an envelope for them to send it back to her.

In this case, the visa office would use the envelope that gets included with the requested passport. So where it is sent would be dependent upon the address written on the return envelope.

I applied as a spousal sponsorship immigrant (I´m American, my husband is Canadian). When the Buffalo visa office requested my passport, the passport request letter gave the two options I listed above. I chose the second option, as it allowed me to include a return envelope that had a tracking number. I´m sure that the visa office handling your wife´s application will give the same options.
