Yes, you can stay in Canada even after the divorce with your husband. But, your husband will be responsible for you for a period of three years (from the date you got your PR) as per the sponsorship agreement signed by him at the time of sponsoring you.

not necessarily. You will have to sort that out in a divorce agreement. It will depend on whether you are capable of working, if there is children involved, his income etc. There is no guarantee and it will require you to hire a lawyer unless he volunteers to help you as part of your separation agreement.

His sponsorship undertaking agreement is with the government of Canada. If you go on welfare during the 3 year term, the Canadian government will attempt to recover those funds from your husband. You will not be part of that conversation.

go to the social services office in the city where you live and fill out the forms. Don`t think for a second it is enough to live on. Get a job.

hard question to answer. For some, it is an arranged marriage, for some it is a way to get residency status, for others the time apart has made them strangers, for others the adaptation has been to hard and then there is the other 50% that are fine.
