Subject: Sharon - pls. advice !
  Hi Sharon !
Hope you all are fine at your ends. Just a quick question - recently, I came to know that one of my wife´s relative family is settled in Alberta. I wanted to gain 5 points under adaptability on this behalf but donot know the legal documents that CIC would like to see to prove this relationship. Could you pls. give me some advice ? Also, would it slow down my application processing if I submit it now OR should I wait to show them at the time of interview ? Thanks a lot once again.

mother goose... hmmmmm, I have been called worse around here.

Do you think your points are close? If not, don´t sweat it. If you think you are tight... get the documents together and send it off with a cover letter saying "I forgot all about this!" Time, postage...you know your application best and how confident you are. I don´t think it will slow things down... they will likely just add it to the file. Trust your judgement.

Dear Sharon,
Thanks for the reply. Do you or anybody else know the documents I need to submit in support. I looked around but nothing specific has been mentioned. Do you know what legal docs CIC prefer to prove these relations ?
Thanks in advance.

I would think you need to prove that they are legally living in Canada. proof of residency kinds of stuff. photo copy of PR card or voters card or something. then you need to prove she is a relative. hopefully she can help you with that. a birth certificate or some such thing. if she is so inclined a notarized letter from her would be helpful.

Sandy,

Draw a family tree on a paper showing how the resident is related to you. Also attach all relevant pages of passports which have parent?s names linking the relative.

In case of an aunt; see if you get passport copies of your spouse´s mother or father (who is related to aunt) and of course your aunts where parents names are listed. So you can prove the lineage.

Yes, you should not loose any points which come your way - it could be all the difference between you being alled and not for an interview.
