Subject: What happens after first stage approval?
  Hi...
I´ve been waiting for my PR under common-law for 1 year.
We´ve moved from ON to BC 3 months ago, before we moved, I got my first stage approval.
Since then, we haven´t heard anything back, nothing.
We´ve tried to phone the 1-888#, the phone never goes through.
They don´t even put you on hold now, and directly hang up on you!!
I´ve done my medical check, and criminal record check up. (what I should do after 1st stage)

What happens after?

I´m going to get married wth my fiance, should I send the information in?
Will it make the process faster?

Who can I speak to?

YES!! I always update the address before I actually move to another place!!!
~ ~: I met a girl the other day, she told me she got her PR within 6 months.
She couldn´t figure out why it takes me forever to finish the whole process!!

I will bet $100 she applied outland.

Inland takes a year to 18 months in many cases and it is very dependent on how well your file is prepared and what sort of background checks they need to do.

The girl told me that she applied for her Canada PR after she came into Canada.
Now I´m really worried abt the whole process.
My fiance (Canadian) and I are getting married next month, and we want to go back to my country to finish another wedding there in 3 months.
The dates has been decided, and tickets r on the way.
The call center never picks up the phone, always tells me to phone back later.
I don´t know what I should do...
It´s been a long process...

BTW..
I sent my medical check along wth my PR application, which is abt a year ago.
The paper indicates that the process would go faster with the medical check comes with the application.

The sent me another piece of paper in June to complete my criminal check with RCMP, which was done and sent.
After that... I haven´t heard anything back since....

When you call the number, at the menu press 000000 and it will connect you. You might need to try 2-3 times though. It´s the only way I could ever get through
