Income is not an issue when sponsoring a spouse or a dependent child, but........

Immigration and Refugee Protection Act has a clarification that many Sponsors on a Provincial Disability Pension are being caught with.

IRPA A39 reads as follows.

Financial reasons
39. A foreign national is inadmissible for financial reasons if they are or will be unable or unwilling to support themself or any other person who is dependent on them, and have not satisfied an officer that adequate arrangements for care and support, other than those that involve social assistance, have been made.

So you are on ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program) and your husband has grade 6 education and can not speak English. You have claimed the two of you wishes to establish residency in Collingwood, Ontario.

How will he find work and even be able to get to and from work? Since he can speak no English he will not be able to obtain a drivers license. So when he arrives you have to show plans for the future and how this man is going to make your life better!

You´re an eligible sponsor on ODSP or other Provincial Support Program but adequate arrangements must be made.

Visa Posts Islamabad, Pakistan and Hong Kong, China are using IRPA 39 to refuse far too many Spousal Sponsorships by DIY applicants.

Prove the adequate arrangements for care and support and live happily ever after!

given the current divorce rate out there, I would not be surprised if there starts to be some form of minimum english or education skills for spousal applicants. I read on this forum... the marriage is not working out, where is the welfare office... and I think yup, every day it is going to get harder.

Others Canadian´s living outside of Canada are getting caught by A 39 as well.

Come to Canada for three or four years become Canadian and move back home to marry a young woman with little employment posibilities.

After reading posts around here for 7-8 years (my god has it been that long) I am starting to think it is high time. I have worked and paid taxes since I was 19. I am more than happy to help someone come to Canada to make a future for themselves and to share all the good things my tax dollars pay for. When I get pissy is when someone wants to beam in an out, cherry pick the good stuff, educate their kids for free or cheap, collect the freebees and then dither about how many days they have to be in the country to retain their status. Or worse, sponsor a spouse that hasn´t a hope in hell of being self sufficient if something goes sideways and then cry that our sponsorship rules are too tough and then have those spouses whine that Canadians are racist for not giving them a job.

I am cranky today :)

What about me???

I get e-mails after e-mails about this issue of a Canadian living abraod with three or four kids and gets refused sposnorering his family.

Well he has to come home and establish himself to win the appeal and they keep asking questions. It is quite clear what has to be d one and it is explained in writing but some can not see the forest for the trees.

I am afraid the general public is getting a little testy about the gimme gimme syndrome. You should of heard my Liberal family go on about immigration and Mr. Quaid last night. Not good.

What does it take to make a positive comment when someone makes a statement?

It is clearly obvious that certain politicians will do anything to get votes by picking on the weak and helpless.

Turn one group into villians and change the Laws. 33,000 refugee claimants a year in which half are approved for status. Have 2 or 3% arrive in a group and run around with your head cut off convincing the general IGNORANT public the sky is falling.

Sadly the spin doctors are convincing far too many. I pray and hope that the general public will soon see that they are being tricked.

What gets me is people like you Vitorelli who behave like a predator and sit back and attack for little or no reason time and again.

People like you have never anything positive to say.

Are you feeling bad or just okay? I hope I`m not right that you never feel good when you wake up.

I feel sorry for you since everything you write about is so negative. Come on let a little sunshine into your life.
