Subject: working illegally in canada.
Hi I have been working in canada with an expired work permit and sin number for a long time now, while being sponsored by my wife who is a canadian citizen. After a while my aplication went through and after they interviewed my wife and I, we were sent the aproved in principle letter and were asked for the medical examination and to send my fingerprints to the RCMP for background checks.Which I did, the medical has gone through and imigration has recived it, but the background checks have not.I sent the fingerprints to the RCMP about eight months ago and I am getting really worried that my working with an expired work permit and sin number might get me deported. I did pay taxes the entire time so there is no tax evasion. However the full aproval has not come through. My questions are, how severe is my situation, will my sponsorship aplication go through (I have not been caught or anything and have no criminal record), and what should I do now?

there is absolutely nothing you can do but wait.

It is a little late to start worrying so don´t - it won´t help.

Well ok, but usually how long after you get the aproved in principle letter do you get to hear back from immigration?

An expired work permit

Sponsored by a spouse

Approved in principle

Medical done and fingerprint submitted.

I wonder how CIC handles the inadmissibility when it comes to an inland spousal sponsorship? I do not see any difference between the case here and someone with an expired visitor visa.

However, your fingerprint will expire in 4 months. Within four months, you will see which way the wind will blow. Landed as a PR or asked to submit another fingerprint.

Well thats the issue, my case has been through immigration and has been approved in principle, unless there is a medical or crimnal issue. they have recived the medical and I have never been convicted or charged with any crime. My question is which way will the wind blow whats the law say about these kind of situation.

The spousal public policy allowing inland applications from out of status applicants covers your situation (working without permission) as long as there is no other admissibility.

Why on earth wouldn´t you just apply for a new work permit now, though - once AIP is reached you´re eligible for an open work permit (good for any employer). Just send in the $150 and work legally.

Your desperation is bringing bad thoughts to you (in reply to: working illegally in canada.)
A background check is done to find out if you commited a crime outside Canada. Best thing you can do is shut up your mouth and let the process to continue. If you have been approved in principle it means that you are going to get your canadian papers, unless they found that you have a criminal record.
I still do not get how you were able to file for taxes without a Social Insurance Number.
I know people who have worked illegaly and immigration never found out. Keep your faith up and shut your mouth.

Hello, I too have a similar question.

I am scared out of my body, I worked in Canada with my personal tax number for three weeks. I filed under the spousal class. I applied for an extension of time and an open work permit four months now and which is two months in advance. i never heard from immigration.

I am scared that they will find my information from Canada revenue, banks and withdraw the sponsorship.

How do you judge?
If I am asked to update my employment information, should i indicate that I worked and with whom?
