Subject: US citizen marrying a Canadian citizin
  Hi,

I am a US citizen dating a Canadian citizen and we want to get married. I have been on the immigration website, but it doesn´t seem to answer all of my questions. I have a job that I love in US, and where we want to live in Canada isn´t that far from the boarder. I wanted to know if I can still work in the US but live in Canada. I also have two children that are from a previous marriage that I have full custody of, so applying to live in Canada from inside is not an option since everything I read says that I can not return to the US for a year. Is it possible to get married and just live separately until the paperwork can be completed? Any help would be so nice!

"still work in the US but live in Canada"

"get married and just live separately until the paperwork can be completed"

There is no room for contributing to Canada as a permanent resident and no on-going commitment to the marriage that is going to be active and continuous.

I have a job in the US as a Paramedic, and an going to nursing school. Once I get my nursing I would work in Canada. Paramedic in US and Canada are so different that I would have to put off nursing school to meet the requirement to be a paramedic in Canada. I should have posted my question with more thought. As far as leaving my children in the US for a year with there dad that they don´t want to see for even a weekend....what kind of mother would I be? I was simply trying to ask if we got married and he applied to sponsor me and my girls while we lived outside of Canada because it´s faster, would we still be able to visit one another? We love one another very much, and just want to be together. He would never ask that I be without my children for a year. So, wow Anonymous....thanks!

yes, you can enter Canada (as long as not inadmissable) while in the PR process.
As well you can live in Canada as PR and work in any other country (that allows you to).
As for your family, everyone would need medicals regardless if coming or not.

Thank you JP. It´s very reassuring that we will be able to see each other, and that I can finish my degree and still have my job.
