For the wide eyed and bushy tailed, Who did not read all the instructions and thought everything in life comes easy. I Was declined on my first application due to insufficient information and refused the second time for not wanting to state that I might be possibly romantically involved with my host on my previous application. I was not sure because we did not meet each other face to face yet, and have only been talking on the internet for a year. I applied as a backpacker in my second application and thought if I don´t like the guy I will go backpacking for two weeks. My immigration officer did not like me from the word go, as I am not renowned to be a typical conformist, and I felt uncomfortable in the way he looked at me, making me not wanting to look at him and not being friendly. I did however have enough evidence to show I will come back to my country and more than enough money for my trip.
He declined me for misrepresentation the second time. But I don´t get it as I still see it as a holiday. My immigration officer said my only purpose to go is to get married and wanting to live off the country´s benefits. He wanted me to admit that? My family is rather wealthy in South Africa and I have a business in becoming very succesful. Now this is the best part:
My immigration officer said that if he finds out I did get married afterwards irrespective of which country he will make my life difficult should I want to immigrate?????
So what will my chances be in two years time after I did my "sentence"
He is coming to visit me, and we are talking about our future in South Africa already, now what if we do get married?

Roy , DocD or Sharon (in reply to: What is my chances) I really would want to know what to do. I have asked before but my comment was too lenghty (was I wrong Please help). I am currently enquiring under International law and so is my family, in what to do in a situation like this. Is an immigration officer allowed to make assumptions like that, accuse you, intimidate you? and use his authority in ever which way he wants?
I feel I have applied on enough grounds to return to my home country, evidence of contracts to work on when I come back to the value of R 1000 000.00 ($143 000) starting on the 3rd of November. Along with contracts with new projects starting in December.
Being found guilty for misrepresentation is a serious thing for me,and it is reflecting bad on me in the business world as well and stating on my refusal note: that I have admit to a different purpose of visit when I have not, is also serious to me. I would really like your advice on what to do, Can I lodge an appeal? I am actually worried on what this man can do to my life and future, should my Canadian man and I get married, eventhough we are thinking of living in South Africa in the future should it work out. Or even wanting to do business in Canada in the future. This is something against my name, and I feel like Leslie Nielson in the movie Wrongfully accused, sorry I atleast have to put some humour in it, as they say humour is an international language.
DocD did give me advice and it was reasonable, due to circumstances on given a fair chance at an embassy, which I still feel I did not have. Can somebody either pin me to the ground, give me advice or just tell me to take a hike. I am more than reasonable.

(in reply to: What is my chances) how you see things is irrelevant, how CIC sees things is everything.
Being found guilty of misrepresentation is serious and will result in a ban to entry for 2 years. Get a lawyer

(in reply to: What is my chances) Your writing is difficult to follow. You went to apply for immigration but at the same time were willing to get a travel visa for a quick vacation instead?
The man isn´t going to ruin your name. His actions aren´t personally vindictive against you. He will likely make note of the fact you claimed to only be taking a vacation and that he suspected you would marry. This information can be used against you in a future citizenship application. As far as I can tell from what you´ve written this is accurate anyway, you are planning only to visit but think you might marry. If you marry when you said you weren´t go to, that is misrepresenting yourself.

Sadie, my question again (in reply to: What is my chances) I have not applied for immigration at all..I am also not interested in immigrating. I applied for a TRV, in other words a visa for a holiday lasting for only two weeks. I was going to travel and meet a male friend of native american culture I met on the internet over a year ago, At that stage we did not know what we wanted to do. I have no plans on getting married yet. Besides to wanting to get married takes time to decide. So my sole purpose was not to get married. But what if we do get married in a couple of YEARS?. That is what I mean. We will be starting a life in South Africa, should things work out. I might want to visit Canada in two years time, but once again only to visit, no intention to immigrate or even becoming a citizen. I love travel, the initial idea was to meet native american people go the heritage sites and learn about their culture. Falling in love is another thing, talking about marriage is something else. Going on a holiday was still the main purpose.

Wait a while (in reply to: What is my chances) I can only say, wait to meet the guy when he comes to South Africa. Get a lawyer when all works out with the two of you. Canada is not a great country in anyway. Who wants to live in Canada when you can live in Africa? Sadie can´t give advice, she couldn´t not understand the message nor the question. Yes they can hold it against you. Your native american man will have more opportunities in Africa in any case. Best of luck with the two of you, sounds like a sad love story to me.
